Landscape painting has always been a great challenge for me.
Trying to reproduce Nature's beauty strikes me as a little arrogant, so I relieve my feelings of intimidation by attempting to add subtle hints of unreality.
That's where the "dream" comes in, that amorphous, hard-to-define sense that all is not exactly "right"...which, of course makes it a lot more fun!
This work has allowed me to explore places and fantasies previously unexamined, as well as travelling into that very satisfying, half-conscious place we visit before fully awakening...
